PRESS RELEASE - ACU CLUBMANS ROUND 6 - WILDEN LANE

Post by SMCAPollyPR »

SMCA PRESS RELEASE

The ACU British Clubmans Championship 2017.

WILDENS LANE 01 OCT 2017 – NO LONGER A ROUND OF THE CLUBMANS CHAMPIONSHIP

It is with regret that the SMCA of GB announce that the meeting at Wildens Lane will not be a round of the ACU British Clubmans Championship. The Clubmans Championship must be run on ACU licenced tracks under an ACU permit. The short notice change to Wildens Lane and the fact that ACU personnel are heavily involved in the MX of Nations at Matterley Basin has resulted in no track certificate being issued.

All payments made will be returned.

The meeting will still go ahead as the first round of the ORPA Winter Series, with practice starting at 0930. The circuit owner, Tom Arnold has stated that he will provide riders and passengers with a free ORPA day licence for this meeting.

Riders not wishing to compete in the winter series are reminded that SMX have a stubblefield meeting that has a sidecar class, near Hook, Hampshire on Sunday.

You are all encouraged to support these clubs and promoters who enable us to race.

The ACU British Clubmans Championship 2017

This has not been a good year for the Clubmans Championship. It has not been for lack of effort by the SMCA. There are several clubs keen to run a sidecar class, but unfortunately they are not ACU affiliated. If it had not been for South Hants, Tom Arnold and the Sidcup Club (at very short notice), there would have been no championship this year. A lot of hard questions need answers before next season, the main one being the viability of the championship in its current guise. If you have opinions or solutions you are invited to the SMCA AGM (date tbc)

RESULTS

The SMCA has decided that there will be no attempt to schedule further rounds of the Championship and that current championship placings and points will stand.

The ACU British Clubmans Champions for 2017 are Ross Bowers and Rob Eastman.
