Final Results-2006 AMA National Sidecar MX Series

Post by Al Wenzel »

For all the Teams & Fans,

A big thank you to all the teams who participated in this years Championship!!! Sidecar MX is such a great sport, but its the great people involved who make the sport worthwhile.

This years series hosted five rounds of Sidecar Motocross in four different States and we had two dominate Teams from the very first round. The old hands of Dave Hennessy & Jim Vietti used their VMC-Zabel to very good effect at almost every round, whilst the new Team of Morgan Pierce & Janette Player traded moto wins quite regularly on their EML-Kawasaki. The Championship came down to the final round, with only 18 points separating the two teams at the finish.

Congratulations to Morgan Pierce & Janette Player on winning the 2006 AMA National Sidecar MX Championship and many thanks to all the teams who took part in this years series.

Here are the series results:

Championship Class:
1. Morgan Pierce/Janette Player (EML-Kawasaki) 220 Points
2. Dave Hennessy/Jim Vietti (VMC-Zabel) 202 Points
3. Richard Myers/Rick Myers (VMC-Zabel) 169 Points
4. Allen Wenzel/Bryan Wenzel (EML-Zabel) 135 Points
5. Lance Brown/Dan Ecker (EML-Kawasaki) 124 Points
6. Stephen Hennessy/Brian Kohl (Wasp-Yamaha) 106 Points
7. Chris Johnson/Paul Stimson (EML-Honda) 103 Points
8. Chris Wilkes/Rolf Greenhill (EML-Honda) 31 Points
9. Dan Sprute/Elmar Kruza (VMC-Kawasaki) 30 Points

Heavyweight Class:
1. Stephen Hennessy/Brian Kohl (Wasp-Yamaha) 175 Points
2. Allen Wenzel/Bryan Wenzel (Wasp-Yamaha) 115 Points
3. Lance Brown/Dan Ecker (EML-Yamaha) 50 Points

It was another great year of sidecar sport and we can only hope to grow the sport in upcoming years.

I must acknowledge AHRMA (the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association) for their very positive inclusion of Sidecar MX at their Post-Vintage MX National events. Without AHRMA we would be forced to use completely modern MX racetracks. AHRMA provides us with a usually much more suitable, vintage style track to race on. For that we are all very grateful.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the AMA Sports Awards Banquet in Las Vegas on November 17th.

The 2007 race schedule is taking shape now and should be available soon!
