Post by Alan green »

Have been told lots of different things about what oil to run in my zabel and would appreciate hearing some more views on the subject.

Hi There,

for many years ran 700 (and 685 & 620cc) Zabels on Automatic Transmission Fluid and never had a gearbox failure. The fluid was changed after each race meeting and seemed to work very well.

Having not been a regular competitor on Zabel since 2006 I have not had much experience with the newest versions of the Zabel engine. For the more recent occasional venture out on the 700 (still my 99 Motor) we have been using a more expensive "Light Gear Oil" specifically designed for motocross which also seems very effective and provides very smooth and light shifting (I am told, I am only a passenger normally!) - Putoline MX10 springs to mind, although I wouldn't swear to it!

I am not sure if that actually answered your question or not, but I hope it helps a little!

Cheers

Dave
