Suspension set up and sag measurements

Post by Ndawg »

I'm new to sidecarcross, coming from a solo background where suspension set up means a lot.. Any advice on suspension set up and sag measurements to get my vmc KTM 540 to handle well would be appreciated..

Hi There,

Welcome to the 3 wheeled world :D

There are a few different items about this on the forum if you have a dig about, but if you have a decent grasp of solo setup then the principals are pretty similar from what I understand, just the bike/rider weights are higher. Normal sag rules apply for an unloaded bike.

Chain tension and setup for a loaded bike is normally done with the passenger stood on the platform, feet towards the back on the side closest to the rear spindal and riders weight over the bike. (Again this is what I have seen/be told/attempted to do in the past! - I am by no means an expert), Mike Turner is a sidecar suspension specialist located in the UK, I am sure he would be able to help if you need shock work doing. :)

All the best getting it sorted out

Dave
