Round 1- AMA National Sidecar MX Series-Results

Post by Al Wenzel »

For all the Teams & Fans,

Round 1 of the 2005 AMA National Sidecar MX Series was held at "Diamond" Don Rainey's farm in Jefferson, TX on Sunday, April 3rd.

Diamond Don always goes out of his way to make the sidecar racers feel welcome and this event was no exception. With a giant party on Friday night and a separate practice on Saturday afternoon, the sidecar teams are well taken care of. American MX legend Jim Pomeroy even got a chance to try a sidecar out on the Saturday practice session. He enjoyed himself completely and is interested in driving a rig if the opportunity presents itself. No doubt it will....

Here Are the Results:

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS:
1. Allen Wenzel/Pat Holmes - EML-Zabel (1,1) 60 points
2. Dave Hennessy/Jim Vietti - VMC-Zabel (2,2) 50 points
3. Eric Benson/Dave Mattson - EML-Honda (3,3) 42 points
4. Richard Myers/Dan Ecker - EML-Kawasaki (DNF, 4) 18 points
5. Chris Richardson/J.P. Antoon - Wasp-Yamaha (DNF, DNS) -No Points

HEAVYWEIGHT CLASS:
No Heavyweight Teams were entered.

The next Round of the series will be held at Larry Wosick's Honey Lake MX Park, in Milford, CA on Saturday, May 28th.

If you have any questions regarding the series, please contact me at: 715.366.4481

Thanks for a fun first round of the series and we will see everyone again at Honey Lake!!!

Al,

Howdie Al,

Can you elaborate on the race story for Diamond Dons (track conditions, weather, how long the motos & moto stories) - inquiring minds want to know ?

Fair turnout but what happened to the wasp team during both motos ?

How can third place
3. Eric Benson/Dave Mattson - EML-Honda (3,3) 42 points

have more points than
2. Dave Hennessy/Jim Vietti - VMC-Zabel (2,2) 40 points

and still finish third or was that a typo.
Good luck in your move and see you next month at Honey Lake -
