I am liking this thinking, although given the finances of most racers I think perhaps it is not a likely thing to happen... And as I was never a "good" passenger I doubt I would qualify for a paid position!

Seriously though, in most teams I have always helped pay for the racing, it is a team sport and the team all contributes in one way or another...
