Round 3-AMA National Sidecar MX Series-Results

Post by Al Wenzel »

For all the Teams & Fans,

Round 3 of the 2006 AMA National Sidecar MX Series was held under perfect conditions at Larry & Lise Wosick's Honey Lake MX Park in Milford, CA. This track is certainly one of, if not the very best of the series.

In all we had 7 Teams competing, including one Heavyweight Team. Chris Johnson & Paul Stimson made the trek north to Honey Lake and knocked down a solid 2nd overall for their efforts, even with a rig that refused to run right at times.

Series regulars Dave Hennessy & Jim Vietti also made a trip out from NM for the round and nailed a hard fought win in the first moto. An early launch in the second moto found their bike wedged in the backwards falling gate and needing some assistance to get back under way. The "Orange" Team did fight back for a fourth position overall on the day.

The father & son Team of Richard & Rick Myers took their VMC-Zabel chair to the most consistent finish of the day, going 3-3 for a third overall.

Morgan Pierce & Janette Player were set for the race of the day in the second moto, but the Hennessy/Vietti starting gate snafu gave them the edge in the second moto, taking the moto win and the overall on the day. Anyone who got a chance to watch the first moto dual between Hennessy & Vietti and Pierce & Player got to see some quality sidecar racing, as the two teams were simply locked in a battle for the lead.

Lance Brown and former "Hack Association" officer, Alan Adcock made up a Team on Brown's new EML-Kawasaki 540 outfit. Adcock hadn't been on a rig in almost 20 years, but he still fit into his old riding gear, so away he went. Adcock suffered a little bobble in the first moto, almost getting run over but his own machine, but he soldiered on and was looking quite comfortable by the second moto. The duo took sixth overall on their EML-Kawasaki. Welcome back Alan!!! It's still fun after all those years, isn't it? Well, mostly fun....except for the aches and pains.

The Heavyweight mounted Team of Stephen Hennessy & Brian Kohl took their Wasp-Yamaha to the Heavyweight class win and a 7th spot in the Championship class. Nothing sounds as good as a big twin cylinder powered four-stroke!!!! Pure soul......

Here are the results:

Championship Class:
1. Morgan Pierce/Janette Player (EML-Kaw) 2,1 55 Points
2. Chris Johnson/Paul Stimson (EML-Hon) 4,2 43 Points

4. Dave Hennessy/Jim Vietti (VMC-Zab) 1,5 46 Points
