With a constant concern to enhance the safety of competitors and local populations, regulations for the 2006 edition have been modified.

The maximum speed during the race is now fixed at 150 kph for trucks and motorbikes.

Speed checks in villages, limited to 50 kph

Yes, and there are some other interesting changes listed in this thread:

I don't think the 150kph speed limit will be any problem for the sidecars. I have ridden mine at 165kph (103mph) on dirt, but it can get a bit scary at that speed. I think 150kph is plenty fast for a Dakar sidecar!!!
