Round 1-AMA National Sidecar MX series-Results

For all the Teams & Fans,

Round 1 of the 2006 AMA National Sidecar MX Series was held at Speedworld MX Park in Wittmann, AZ on Saturday, Feb. 4th.

In all we had 6 teams in attendance, which was not too bad for this early start of the season. It was Morgan Pierce & Janette Player's (aka Thorina) race, as they won both moto's for a perfect day. They didn't walk away with it though, as our favorite "Team New Mexico" of Dave Hennessy & Jim Vietti kept a furious pace around the Speedworld track, holding off the Shamrock flyers until the final laps of each moto.

Longtime Sidecar racer Richard Myers and new passenger Mark Skarpohl used their VMC-Zabel to good effect securing a solid 3rd overall finish. We even had a new team of Chris Wilkes & Rolf Greenhill on their LH EML-Honda CR500. They did great on the bike and we will probably see them out from time to time in the future.

We also got to see a return of another longtime sidecar racer at this event. Lance Brown teamed up with Tucson, AZ's own Dan Ecker (the "Iron Smurf") on a loaner outfit. The duo did great and finished fourth overall.

It was a fantastic event and another fun weekend of Sidecar MX racing!!!!

Round #2 will be held at Diamond Don's Riverport MX in Jefferson, TX on Sunday, April 2nd.
